This piece has evolved - what started as part of my project based on the Cornish Tin mines has evolved into representing the start of a PhD into story telling, woven fabrics, the history, current views - who knows where this will go. Feeling overwhelmed by the amount of information, where to start I wove this piece. Continuing with the paper yarn as the means of telling the story, the yarn was hand dyed with procion dyes, and has a silk top - yarn coloured with clay from the Cornish red rivers. Could I weave a deep dark hole? This weave has three concentric tubes, all woven on a multi-layer single warp. The paper gives it some shape, there is a small amount of wire at the top - hanging in the window of my studio it reminds me of the undertaking that I have started and the depths into which I need to delve.
